2011 Heartland Triathlon

The 2011 Heartland Triathlon marked the 6th consecutive year of growth. This year’s TriKidz event was host to the USAT Florida Regional Youth Championship.  Over 130 children ages 5-14 toed the line early Saturday morning for a fantastic morning of racing.  Age group certificates personally autographed by World Ironman Champion Chris ‘Macca’ McCormack were presented at the awards ceremony.
At our Pasta Bash, our guests were treated to an entertaining and inspiring evening with Jeff Cuddeback, recognized as one of the Top Ten All-Time Kona Greatest Age Groupers.  Jeff’s message kept our audience on the edge of their seats and encouraged us all to be true to ourselves.  Attendees walked away from the evening smiling while being reminded to ‘turn the light bulbs with both hands’ when crossing the finish line the next day.
Father’s Day Sunday hosted our largest adult group ever.  In addition to the goodie bag complete with Polar water bottle, Dri-fit shirt, and running visor, all participants were draped in an ice cold water soaked swim towel upon crossing the finish line.  The food, beverages, and support following the race were exceptional and supported some fantastic camaraderie among athletes, friends, and families.
